Upon meeting Yang Kai, Kang Si Ran is an old 3rd Order Origin King Realm cultivator with his Saint Qi completely converted into Source Qi.[3] Despite this, he lacks the sensibility to World Principles required to promote to the Dao Source Realm without the aid of a Dao Source Pill.[4] For this reason, he is constantly in search of a Dao Source Fruit during his early days with Yang Kai.

New Alchemist[]
Kang Si Ran first meets Yang Kai after the latter visits his Spirit Pill Plaza while looking to buy pill recipes. Having had 2 of his best Alchemist stolen by a rival Shopkeeper of the Seven Glories Chamber of Commerce, Zhuo Ning Si, Kang Si Ran is overjoyed when he finally convinces Yang Kai to work as an Alchemy Expert for 2 months in exchange for his pill recipes, with the shop's recipe for Source Condensing Pills having been improved by an Emperor Grade Alchemist. After having Yang Kai sign a Divine Soul Contract designed by the Serene Soul Great Emperor[5] in order to prevent any leaking of the shop's recipes, Kang Si Ran leads him back into the shop only to find that his 3rd and final original Alchemist is also deserting him for the nefarious Zhuo Ning Si.[6]
However, Kang Si Ran's worries are soon completely alleviated when Yang Kai turns out to not only be capable of keeping the shop running until reinforcements from the Violet Source Chamber of Commerce can arrive, but he is actually able to match the output of the previous 3 Alchemists stolen by Zhuo Ning Si.[7] What's more, the quality of his Source Condensing Pills exceeds even the 10% margin of improvement the pills gained from the former recipe modifications. With business thriving, Kang Si Ran eventually notifies Yang Kai of the opportunity to enter Star Soul Palace's Five Colored Treasure Pagoda.
Dao Source Pill[]
Upon Yang Kai's return from the Pagoda, his contract with Kang Si Ran has expired and the 2 other Alchemists have arrived.[8] However, Kang Si Ran invites Yang Kai to come with him on an opportunity to explore a Cave Mansion that once belonged to Gongsun Mu, one of the first 3 disciples of the Wondrous Pill Great Emperor who was expelled over a disagreement with the latter. After having agreed to explore the Cave Mansion within a months time, Kang Si Ran at one point attends an auction with Yang Kai before they later head toward it together.
Upon finally arriving at the Cave Mansion in search of a Dao Source Fruit, Kang Si Ran ends up getting separated from Yang Kai as he is made to experience a number of strange, Alchemy-related tests.[9] Though Kang Si Ran fares better than most due to his experience managing the Spirit Pill Plaza, he is eventually transmitted out of the suddenly collapsing Cave Mansion before he can receive any benefits. Fearing the worst for Yang Kai, Kang Si Ran is pressured into departing back to Maplewood City alone as the local Raging Fire Temple monopolizes the search of the ruins.[10]
Later, Kang Si Ran is pleased to see that Yang Kai is still living after the latter comes to warn him of the Ancient Demon Qi approaching Maplewood City.[11] After later being safely settled in a large Cave Mansion rented out to Mo Xiao Qi during this incident, Kang Si Ran is eventually convinced into gratefully accepting a Dao Source Pill with Pill Veins from the hand of Yang Kai.[12] Later, he successfully promotes to Dao Source Realm before thanking Yang Kai.[1]
Violet Source Manager[]
Over a decade later, the now Maplewood City Violet Source Chamber of Commerce Branch Manager Kang Si Ran meets a now 1st Order Emperor Realm Yang Kai after the latter visits his branch in order to acquire some Space Spirit Jades and Crystals.[2] However, their initial greetings are then rudely interrupted by Kang Si Ran’s overtly hostile rival Manager, Gu Hong, who seeks to steal yet another business proposition presented to the former.
Fortunately, Yang Kai goes on to set up an extremely lucrative ongoing transaction with the Vice President of the entire Violet Source Chamber of Commerce, Lou Chi, involving his selling of two 12th Order Monster Cores to the Chamber of Commerce every half-year for monetary compensation. What’s more, Yang Kai ensures that the conditions for the continuation of this arrangement is that Kang Si Ran exclusively presides over the Violet Source Chamber of Commerce’s side of the deal, thus solidifying his position in the Maplewood City Branch.[13]
